Proudly established as a North Shields company for over 130 years, Potts is currently moving into brand new premises as a new chapter in its history begins. The new Potts supersite will be located in the bustling Nelson Park area of Cramlington, Northumberland, 10 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne. The location is ideally positioned for both Potts’ north east and national clients, being situated just off the A1 and a 5 minute journey from Newcastle International airport.
As one of the most progressive UK print companies, Potts has vision; The 5 year target is to double turnover to over £15m and expand its excellent reputation as one of the UK’s major print and packaging companies. Not a pipe dream, but a thought out, structured plan from a forward thinking firm.
Atlas House, as the new premises will be named in tribute to the very first Potts’ site, reflects this target; Over 50,000 square feet of offices, production and warehousing space has been developed to accommodate the latest investment of over £4m in state of the art pre-press, print and finishing equipment.
Always thinking ahead, the company has also purchased land adjacent to the new site which will be developed to add another 50,000 square feet of production and logistics capacity.
The investment has been relentless; Two new Agfa Avalon B1 Violet platesetters (a world first), a MAN Roland 6 colour 706 B1 press, a 6 station Muller Martini stitching line, an Iberica B1 die cutting machine and a Signature folder gluer, are all being installed during the month of September, giving Potts immediate capacity to print and finish from the new facility.
All existing B1, B2 and B3 equipment involving the pre-press, press and finishing departments will be moving during the end of September and during October. This will eliminate any disruption to clients’ needs and will increase capacity during this period, as Potts will be operating from two sites.
The investment does not stop there either, as the company is currently in negotiations to purchase further commercial and packaging equipment to be installed later this year.
Potts is also re-branding with a new logo, website and company profile being launched to coincide with the move.
From their beginnings as a commercial printer and stationer in North Shields town centre during the 1870’s, Potts currently partner with some of the biggest brand names in the UK and Europe in the commercial print, direct marketing and bespoke printed carton packaging markets. With this latest major investment and growth, Potts is increasing its reputation for excellence in print.
