Potts enhance eco-credentials with chemistry free CTP

October sees Potts, the Northumberland based print and packaging company, introduce the first phase of upgrades to their AGFA Avalon computer to plate machinery. The upgrade involves both of their AGFA Violet units becoming totally chemistry free – a considerable change towards improving traditional plate processing and its environmental factors as part of Potts’ own ISO14001 commitment.

The first LP82 unit has been replaced with a C95 unit that can operate in a normal daylight setting, together with a thermal processor that utilises the new AGFA Azura 2 thermally imaged printing plate.

The AGFA Azura 2 plate is the only plate in the pre-press consumables market that can be used without chemical processing – no developer or fixative is required - another first for Potts.

Potts’ pre-press manager Ian White commented “We were using over 12,000 litres of chemicals each year with the previous configuration – the upgrade not only means we are more time and cost efficient in processing plates, but we are making a big step towards our environmental commitment by taking out all chemistry in our pre-press department”

Potts’, currently positioned in the top 50 UK companies for growth, currently employ 120 staff at their HQ and production facility in Cramlington, and are on target this year for a £9m turnover. They specialise in a wide range of bespoke sheet fed litho printing, printed packaging, fulfillment and logistics services.
